The first Olympic Games were held in Australia in Melbourne in 1956. More than four decades later, the second time was in Sydney 2000!
The next time the whole of Australia is waiting is Brisbane, Queensland in 2032 (more than three decades after Sydney).
This is a golden opportunity for Australia in general and its construction industry in particular.
Brisbane Olympic 2032 is driving a multi billion dollar pipeline of venue and transport works, with labour demand expected to spike from about late 2026 and remain very strong through to at least 2028.
Forecasts point to a significant construction worker shortfall in Queensland in 2026–27, which should translate into strong job opportunities for trades, engineers and site professionals.
